This painting is shocking. Saturn devoring his son is part of a series of paintings called: "The black paintings of Goya" that are exposed in El Prado museum of Madrid, and this is important, bacause it was the first time that I saw this painting. I was 8 and we were on a family trip on Madrid and one of the important stops was El Prado. There where a lot of good paintings like the Meninas or la Maja vestida but I ended being amazed by Goya and his black paintings, I remeber taking my mother's hand and ask her "What's that?".
Goya is one of the greatest painters in the history of Spain but in his last years of his life, after the Spanish war of independence, he started a more dark and obscure type of paintings. This paintings were dicovered post-mortum in his house in Madrid and a lot of them were unnamed, like the case of this picture, and they were named by other persons.
I don't really like abstract art but Hilma af Klint has something that I love.
Hilma af Klint is the creator of the abstract art and her art is just incredible in colors and composition. I have never been able to see one of her paintings and I hope I have the oportunity soon.
